1. FLA/BAMA/FLA (So we all have to live with this unil Dec 5)
2. BAMA/FLA/BAMA
3. TEX/TEX/TEX
4. TCU/TCU/TCU (Not sure if they warrant a #4 spot with only beating two #16s, but they are undefeated)
5. CIN/BOISE ST/CIN (I’d like to see Boise and CIN match up)
6. BOISE ST/CIN/BOISE ST
7. GEO TECH/GEO TECH/GEO TECH (Good thing there are two halves to each game)
8. PITT/PITT/PITT
9. OHST/LSU/OHST (I think LSU would run over OH ST)
10. LSU/OHST/LSU
11. ORE/ORE/ORE
12. OK ST/OK ST/OK ST
13. PENN ST/IOWA/PENN ST
14. STAN/BYU/STAN
15. IOWA/PENN ST/IOWA

17. WIS/WIS/WIS

19. BYU/RUTG/BYU (I threw in Rutgers this week and wow, they broke in for me at 19)
20. OR ST/VA TECH/OR ST
21. MIAMI/USC/MIAMI (A USC defeat is a good Saturday for me)
22. USC/MIAMI/USC
23. UTAH/USF/UTAH (I said weeks ago that USF’s ranking smelled an awful like last year)
24. HOU/CAL/HOU (If HOU faced another ranked team this year, they’d be up a bit more than #24)
25. RUTG/MISS/RUTG

1. FLA/BAMA/FLA – (Again, BAMA has beaten 3 ranked teams, FLA only 1)
2. BAMA/FLA/TEX
3. TEX/TEX/BAMA – (Texas is fine here until after the SEC title game)
4. TCU/BOISE ST/TCU – (This would be an interesting game)
5. CIN/TCU/CIN – (So would this)
6. BOISE/CIN/BOISE – (And this)
7. GEO TECH/GEO TECH/GEO TECH – (Close call for G. Tech this week, a more solid win probably would have them up to 5th or 6th)
8. LSU/IOWA/OHST – (Not sure how the AP gets OH ST here, oh yeah, politics)
9. USC/HOU/PITT – (I’d shame the BCS for putting USC higher than ORE, but I did the same thing)
10. IOWA/UTAH/USC – (This is a fine mess here)
11. OHST/PITT/LSU – (does it really matter discussing beyond this point?)
12. PITT/LSU/HOU -
13. ORE/USC/IOWA -
14. MIAMI/ORE/UTAH -

25. WVA/TEX TECH/AUB – (Auburn is my #30 behind #28 Cal and #29 Nebraska)
My BCS Rankings Ending Week 9
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, NCAA Football Rankings, Tebow, Texas Longhorns, college football blog on November 1, 2009 by imtakingover1. BAMA (It’s not who you know, but who you play)
2. FLA (Nice win yesterday, but probably won’t silence the Tebow critics)
3. TEX (See above quote for BAMA)
4. IOWA (Good thing for the Hawkeyes that there are 4 quarters to a game)
5. BOISE ST (Probably glad that these guys played the Ducks in Week 1)
6. TCU (This team is a total package, seriously)
7. CIN (CT, WVA, ILL, and PITT coming up, they could really solidify their legitimacy)
8. ORE (I’m a fan of anyone who beats USC, but nonetheless, what a great win)
9. GEO TECH (They allowed way too many points to Vanderbilt)
10. LSU (Come-on, Tulane? Really? Bring on BAMA!)
11. PENN ST (That was a weird 4th Quarter)
12. HOU (After giving up 43 points to S.Miss, I think Tulsa will run them over)
13. UTAH (Haven’t seen a highlight for these guys)
14. PITT (Next week should be a win, but then it’s 3 ranked teams in a row)
15. USC (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha)
16. OK ST (shake it off and play out)
17. USF (they should get BCS or AP rank this week)
18. OHST (should be a great game against Penn St next week)
19. BYU (why is it I want to fall asleep when I see BYU)
20. MIAMI (so I think they’ll end up 9-3)
21. CAL (I think they lose the next 2 weeks, we’ll see)
22. WIS (Badgers should be seeing a ranking on Sunday)
23. ND (I see 9-3 in their future too)
24. WVA (8-4)
25. ARI (or VA TECH, or OKL, or S. CAR, or TEX TECH, or MISS, or MIZZ, or NEB, or AUB, or UNC, or KAN)
End of Week 8 BCS Rankings
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, NCAA Football Rankings, Tebow, Texas Longhorns, college football blog on October 26, 2009 by imtakingoverAll right folks, not a whole lot of change from last week. Here we go
BCS/MINE/AP
1. FLA/BAMA/FLA (Not sure why the AP bailed out on FL, they played a poorly as BAMA, if not more so)
2. BAMA/FLA/BAMA (FL has gone against only 1 ranked team as compared to BAMA’s 3)
3. TEX/TEX/TEX (I’m ready for TEX vs FL or TEX vs BAMA match now)
4. IOWA/VATECH/USC (I think VA Tech could take on either one of these teams here and win)
5. USC/IOWA/CIN (Iowa showed they can hang around and look beaten just as good as FL and BAMA)
6. TCU/GEO TECH/BOISE ST (TCU could take out either of these teams, but they’ll need a team ranked higher than 16 to prove it)
7. BOISE ST/BOISE ST/IOWA (I’d like to see a Boise vs. Iowa game)
8. CIN/LSU/TCU (Quagmire here)
9. LSU/USC/LSU (Oregon St has USC’s number, USC was lucky yesterday)
10. ORE/TCU/ORE (Ducks looked sluggish early yesterday but really poured it on as the game progressed)
11. GEO TECH/ORE/GEO TECH (G. Tech should be higher, maybe we should meet in the middle and give them #8 or 9)
12. PENN ST/CIN/PENN ST (good thing Iowa is ranked or Penn St would not be here)
13. VA TECH/OK ST/OK ST (I am really looking forward to OK St’s game against Tex)
14. OK ST/SCAR/VA TECH (quagmire)
15. PITT/OKL/HOU (this is a fine mess too)
16. UTAH/BYU/PITT (admittedly BYU should be lower)
17. OHST/PENN ST/OHST (pretty close with OSU here)
18. HOU/OHST/MIAMI (I got Miami lower than both AP and BCS, that was a Jekyll and Hyde performance)
19. MIAMI/HOU/UTAH (the Utes will get throttled by TCU, good thing it’s not for a couple of weeks)
20. ARI/MIAMI/WVA (still not quite sure why Arizona is ranked)
21. WVA/MISS/SCAR (WVA does not deserve a ranking yet, relax Mountaineers, I said yet)
22. SCAR/USF/OKL (?)
23. ND/CAL/ARI (ND can legitimize itself by beating Pitt in a few weeks)
24. CAL/UTAH/MISS (not a fan of anything Berkeley, and I have CAL higher than the BCS)
25. MISS/WIS/ND (No love for the Badgers?)
BCS/AP/My Comparisons
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, NCAA Football Rankings, Tebow, Texas Longhorns, college football blog on October 19, 2009 by imtakingoverHere is the comparison between the BCS, My Rankings, and the AP. Since last night’s post I’ve updated mine a bit by adding Texas Tech. Can anyone figure out why Wisconsin, Arizona, and Pittsburgh have been added?
BCS/MINE/AP
1. FLA/BAMA/BAMA (So close for spots 1 and 2)
2. BAMA/FLA/FLA
3. TEX/TEX/TEX (I think this makes it official)
4. BOISE ST/VA TECH/USC (I know I am over-reaching here, but so what)
5. CIN/IOWA/CIN (I make no bones about it, I am not a Cincinatti fan, but my formula does not allow a higher ranking)
6. IOWA/G.TECH/BOISE ST (well isn’t it interesting that the BCS and Me have Iowa higher than the AP)
7. USC/BOISE ST/IOWA (least IOWA moved up from last week’s AP ranking – 11th)
8. TCU/LSU/MIAMI (looks like we are comfortable with TCU in 8 or 9)
9. LSU/USC/LSU (I think more highly of LSU obviously)
10. MIAMI/MIAMI/TCU (for 10th and 11th, I am in sync with the BCS)
11. ORE/ORE/G.TECH (same for 11th and 12th for Oregon)
12. G.TECH/TCU/ORE
13. PENN ST/BYU/PENN ST (I’ve got Penn St all the way down there at 18th)
14. V.TECH/CIN/OK ST (Here is where I like Cincinatti)
15. OKST/OKST/VA TECH (looks like we all like OK St around 14 or 15)
16. BYU/USF/BYU (yes, I still have USF in my rankings)
17. HOU/S.CAR/HOU (Houston is a cool story, but I got this U of Hawaii feel for them)
18. UTAH/PENN ST/OHST (this is a quagmire)
19. OHST/OHST/UTAH (closer to the truth here with OH ST, honestly-should they even be ranked at this point?)
20. PITT/HOU/PITT (PITT is not in my rankings at all, with a double nod from the AP/BCS, I did the math but it just doesn’t add up)
21. WIS/OKL/T.TECH (so you think I’m crazy for keeping USF in, try putting Wisconsin in the ranks)
22. ARI/T.TECH/WVA (Ari-freaking-zona!? – with a loss to Washington)
23. WVA/MISS/S.CAR (I’m not there yet with West Virginia either)
24. S.CAR/CAL/KAN (I’ve got South Carolina too high I guess, but there loss to BAMA yesterday was not as devastating as say a loss to Purdue!)
25. KAN/UTAH/OKL (Kansas is out for me this week. Oklahoma should not be ranked either)
MY BCS RANKINGS BEFORE THE BCS RELEASE
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, NCAA Football Rankings, Tebow, Texas Longhorns, college football blog on October 18, 2009 by imtakingoverThis week I wanted to get out my rankings ahead of the BCS’ just to see how it will compare against their computer rankings. There are some 2 loss teams ahead of no loss teams, but consider the schedules. For example, VA Tech has played a much much tougher schedule than say Boise State. For me, schedule means the most.
1. BAMA (scary 3 quarters against S. Carolina)
2. FLA (scary 4 quarters against Arkansas)
3. TEX (scary 3 quarters against Oklahoma, must be getting close to Halloween)
4. VA TECH (too bad for the Hokies)
5. IOWA (will BCS give these guys more respect than the AP has?)
6. GA TECH (they should be ahead of VA Tech, I know. I just hold true to my super formula)
7. BOISE STATE
8. LSU
9. USC (so you beat Notre Dame, whoopadee doo)
10. MIAMI
11. OREGON
12. TCU
13. BYU
14. CINCINNATI (I’ve been giving very little credit to the Bearcats, but they did very well on Thursday night against da Bulls)
15. OK STATE (I was rootin’ for MizzU)
16. SOUTH FLORIDA (I said last week or so, their rankings in the AP smelled an awful like last season)
17. SOUTH CAROLINA (Does anyone think Spurrier is going to stay in South Cackalackee?)
18. PENN STATE (Only a one loss team, but once they play some more competitive opponents they should climb)
19. OHIO STATE (too bad USC wasn’t down here with these guys somewhere)
20. HOUSTON
21. OKLAHOMA (yes, this is a 3 loss team, but we all know that they will be in a bowl game, way too much money at stake)
22. MISSISSIPPI
23. CALIFORNIA
24. UTAH
25. GEORGIA (yet another 3 loss team, Kansas should probably be here this week)
BCS RANKINGS WEEK ENDING OCT 10
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, NCAA Football Rankings, Tebow, Texas Longhorns, Uncategorized with tags Crimson Tide on October 13, 2009 by imtakingoverSorry I am late, hopefully folks are looking. Had to work, yada yada yada.
1. Alabama (last week I said Florida would be here if they won, refer to the heading on the right side of this page).
2. Florida (great game against LSU, would have liked to have seen more points scored. LSU was a weak #4 entering Saturday’s game, but let’s not take anything away from a very impressive Florida D. Their hands will be full against Arkansas).
3. Virginia Tech (How does one team fall to #3 here? Their loss earlier this year hurts).
4. Texas (Play somebody!)
5. Iowa (These guys are not getting much respect after beating Penn St. I believe that there are some in the AP poll who do not believe that Iowa can beat Oh State later this year).
6. LSU (fall to #10 in AP. I’m not an LSU fan, but they loss to a powerhouse and held them to only 13 pts. They deserve better than #10).
7. Boise State (Not a fan here either. Not that I dislike the Broncos, but their schedule is undeserving for occupying my spot here, or the AP spot of #5).
8. Ohio State (Nearly dead on with coaches here).
9. Miami (Although on paper they are not playing anyone until the end-USF, I smell complacency).
10. USC (still ranked high in AP. I guess the UW debacle is considered a mulligan).
11. Oregon (still like them right here).
12. TCU (matched up with the AP for this team, but they should not be ranked).
13. South Florida (isn’t it funny how USF climbed 2 ranks with a bye week).
14. BYU (looking forward to their match up with TCU, hopefully TCU will bounce out of here).
15. Georgia Tech (Not a very solid win over FSU; the Hokies are going to put a hurting on these guys, I think).
16. South Carolina (interesting that they are up this high in my poll)
17. Oklahoma St (interestin schedule the remainder of the year. Reminds me of Miami’s, they could be in trouble if they get a case of the lazies).
18. Kansas (tough schedule ahead, 4 ranked teams to play against. They’ll climb steadily if they can win).
19. Cincinnatti (I still need someone to tell me not only how the heck they got ranked, but how did the AP get them up there so high?)
20. Oklahoma (glad to see Bradford back in the game, hopefully he can turn things around, kind of like Hasselback’s return to the Seahawks).
21. Nebraska (dominant against MizzU, but I think there is an upset in store for them with Texas Tech).
22. Penn State (see remarks for Texas).
23. Houston (see remarks for Texas).
24. Mississippi (this is like that song on Sesame Street, one of these things is not the others, one of these things doesn’t belong).
25. California (this too shall pass).
LAST NIGHT’S GAME
Posted in BCS, NCAA Football Rankings, Uncategorized with tags Cornhusker Football on October 10, 2009 by imtakingoverUp until the 4th Quarter I was a genius. Then, as luck would have it, Nebraska decided to climb out of the dog house. The game was a bit boring and admittedly I turned it off to watch the Office in the 3rd Quarter (West Coast time). Nebraska will climb out some in my rankings, maybe hit 22 overall from where I had them (27th) from last week. MIZZOU will probably fall out.
MY BCS RANKINGS WEEK ENDING OCT 3
Posted in BCS, College Football Rankings with tags Alabama Crimson Tide, AP coaches poll, Auburn, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, Virginia Tech Hokies on October 4, 2009 by imtakingoverI was not excited about the games this week, but WOW, great games at Georgia and Miami. My rankings here are based on wins, losses, and currently the AP coaches poll.
1. Virginia Tech (still my number 1, even with a loss to Alabama, who is my number 2. No, doesn’t make sense now, but it will shake itself out soon).
2. Alabama (impressive win over Kentucky yesterday but with a win over Mississippi next week should keep them in my #2 spot).
3. Florida (good timing for the bye week. Tebow will need the rest for LSU. This will be the game to watch next Saturday night. If Florida beats LSU, Florida will be my #1).
4. LSU (last week they were my #9, but they held together against Georgia at Georgia. LSU could be my #1 if they can handle the Gators. Probably a good thing that LSU is at home).
5. Texas (last week my #4, they’ll move up soon enough as well).
6. Iowa (they deserve to be here after punishing Penn St last week, but a victory over Michigan and especially Wisconsin may solidify a top 5 spot from the coaches poll).
7. Boise St (I’m not crazy about them in the BCS this year and with their schedule, they will continue to drop back each week at least in my rankings).
8. Ohio St (still at #8. Huge game for them against Wisconsin next weekend, might be an even bigger game for Wisconsin).
9. USC (after that crazy loss to UW, USC has been dominating opponents. Too bad that they needed a loss to figure out how dominating they should have been against the Huskies. Had they won that game, they’d be in the top 3).
10. Miami (great win against Oklahoma. J. Harris is going to be a force to reckon with the next few years). If Miami can keep its defense healthy and intact, I would say there is a title shot coming… in 2011).
11. Oregon (I am more comfortable with them at 11 than at 10 like last week).
12. U of South Florida (not bullish at all, but here they are and undefeated. Seems as if we have heard this tune before).
13. TCU (moves up from #14 but they can thank Oklahoma for that).
14. Georgia (oh how I hate formulas, even mine, sorry Georgia, you shouldn’t be here. It is a good thing your losses are against Oklahoma State and LSU).
15. BYU (I think they would want to play TCU right now and not in 3 weeks).
16. Georgia Tech (Possibly better than Georgia but we’ll have to wait until Nov 28th for that match up. Will it even matter by then?).
17. S. Carolina (ok, I have them way too high, but here they are. Alabama is the biggest beneficiary with SC being ranked because it will keep Alabama at #1 or #2 throughout the year… as long as BAMA can continue to win).
18. Oklahoma St. (wild schedule ahead, Mizz, Texas Tech, Texas, and of course Oklahoma. Ugh. Don’t want to be these guys).
19. Cincinnati (they are way to high at #8 in the coaches poll. We just saw what happened to Houston. If I were the Bears I’d ask to bring the ranking into some reality before USF does it for them on Oct 15th).
20. Auburn (way to high in the coaches poll, and to high here too, but they got the nod. Their real test is, well, each and every week. If you thought Oklahmoas State had it tough try this: Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, MISS, Georgia, and BAMA. If they win out, they should be #1).
21 . Kansas (I dropped them from #20. Hopefully for them they have some upset specials in their playbooks).
22. Missouri (glad to see that the coaches put these guys back in, but severely suspicious now that they are coming up on ranked teams Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Texas).
23. Oklahoma (I’d drop them out if the numbers would let me. Don’t see how they get to stay and Houston with one loss has to drop out of the coaches poll completely. Are there any rumblings out there to replace Stoops?).
24. Penn State (not a very exciting schedule remaining, but in reality they might make it up to #14 as the coaches poll indicates).
25. Houston (here is a team recognized early and then treated like Dan Akroyd in Trading Places. Makes me wonder who won the 1 dollar bet and what kind of revenge Houston will seek out. Beware future opponents).
My BCS Rankings
Posted in BCS on September 27, 2009 by imtakingoverThis is not scientific, but just my crack at the top 25. As most of us know, the AP poll is quite biased. Just take a look at USC, Florida, or Texas. Only USC has played a team of significance (OH ST), they won, but lose out to U WASH. Yet, they have made their way back into the top ten. I have them, with their current strength of schedule at 11. Here are my top 25, based on strength of schedule and wins:
1. VA TECH (yes, has one loss to Alabama, but has beaten #19 Nebraska and #9 Miami). Pending problem: now that UNC is no longer a ranked team, Hokies will succumb to the weakness of their remaining schedule and most likely not be a contender for the title game).
2. BAMA (was my #1 last week and the week prior. Their issue is the weakness of their schedule in terms of ranked teams to play. Make no mistake with South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and an Auburn that is beating opponents 20-30 points every week, the Crimson Tide has no easy ride).
3. Florida (Tebow’s injury will cause a fit of conservative playing. He is the Gators. Florida, in my ranking, will most likely not get hire than #3, barring an Alabama loss. Florida’s schedule is tremendously weak. Be interesting to see how the BCS computer ranks their season thus far).
4. Texas (Impressive victory over UTEP yesterday, plus games against 3 top 20 teams and an unbeaten Missouri team, Texas should climb up to #1 or #2 soon).
5. Iowa (their win yesterday over Penn State at PSU was a great accomplishment. Unfortunately, their remaining schedule is bland. Unless Wisconsin receives a ranking, Iowa’s hope for a title shot rests solely in their hands and they must win against both Michigan and Ohio State).
6. Boise State (still a great story, but they only played one ranked team (Oregon) and won’t play any other ranked teams for the remainder of the year. My only guess is that other BCS schools who typically get ranked are scared to face the Broncos).
7. Houston (who? Great win against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech Saturday night. They’ll probably win out the rest of the year too, but I’d keep my eye on that Tulsa game later in the season).
8. Ohio State (what’s it like to lose it all before it even begins? Just ask the Buckeyes. All is not lost however, well actually it is. Now that Penn State choked, OSU must also hope and pray that Wisconsin is ranked before they match up Oct 10th).
9. Louisiana State (So in the AP they are #4. If you haven’t scratched your head on that one, then you are probably an LSU fan. A squeaker with Washington and barely a win against Mississippi State does not bring any school to #4. Louisiana politics are definitely rampant in the coaches poll).
10. Oregon (these guys give me a headache and admittedly, I think I have them ranked to high, but my numbers are what they are. Oregon needs to make up their minds: We want to be ranked, we don’t want to be ranked. Hopefully you know who you are by Halloween).
11. Southern California (Unless the rest of the country drops into the ocean before the end of the season, USC will not play for the title. Their remaining schedule is the definition of weakness).
12. Oklahoma (tough, tough schedule this year. Next week is Miami FL, and you know that the Canes have much to prove after this past Saturday. Cowboys are going to have to lasso the wind ).
13. Michigan (much like Oregon, I have these guys ranked to high at the moment).
14. TCU (Not sure how they were even voted for in the coches poll. They play only BYU this year, every other game is a reason for under-aged college kids to sneak booze into the stadium).
18. Oklahoma State (oh, if only Oklahoma State knew that Houston would be smacking around the competition this year).
19. Georgia Tech (VA Tech and Georgia to go still, it’ll be quite a haul).
20. Kansas (significant wins over opponents, but I’m not sure as to why they’ve broken into the top 25, I’d put Auburn, Missouri, or even Wisconsin here first).
21. Cincinnati (how a team makes it to #10 on the coaches poll and not have one ranked team to play against during an entire season should have us all wondering what the heck is going on)
22. Missouri (ranked #25 after week 2, not quite sure as to why they are not still in the coaches poll especially after Cincinnati who has played absolutely no one either gets to stay in).
23. Penn State (This team is over-ranked every darn year. They were my #5 last week solely based on how they were voted in on the coaches poll. They should feel grateful that they got to go to #15 in the coaches poll).
24. Nebraska (this is a tough schedule for the remainder of the year. Good thing they are this low, won’t hurt as much when they fall out of the top 25).
25. Mississippi (coaches are kind, they kept Mississippi at #21. Me, not so much, only ten points separates the Rebs from the Golden Bears).
